If you think on it, the lyrics to Auld Lang Syne are really bloody depressing. "Should auld acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind"? Terrible way to start out the year.

This year, I resolve to not drink a single bloody drop of alcohol. So there.

	Maybe it's because it has a happy tune, sort of. Makes them think there's nothing wrong with it, and they're just mindlessly reciting the lyrics. Like little kids who repeat the terrible things their parents say without realising what they're really saying. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
